Bocce Ball Outdoor Game Sets

The outdoor game bocce ball has a history dating back to the Roman Empire and it still enjoys a huge audience today.

The game is played on a hard soil surface referred to as a court but you can also play on your lawn in the backyard. Just lay out a grid 90 feet deep x 13 feet wide and you are ready to play provided you have a game set. The game balls are generally made of plastic or metal.

You can play one on one or form teams up to four people per team, game play starts with the ball called the jack which is smaller and is touched into the designated zone. If your team misses the jack after two attempts then your opponent has the opportunity to toss and place the jack.

From that point on, the team that does not have a ball placed closest to the jack gets to bowl. This goes on until one of the sides has used all four of their bocce balls. The opposing team then bowls all of theirs and the team closest to the jack scores the point.
